A man was hospitalized after the car he was driving crashed in the median overnight on Interstate 85 in Charlotte.
Police say the driver had reached speeds of 100 mph or more before the crash.
The vehicle was spotted by police initially on Interstate 77 in Cornelius. A law enforcement officer from that town saw the vehicle speeding southbound, turned around on I-77, and began pursuit. Police say the driver got on southbound I-85 and crashed near the Beatties Ford Road exit.
The driver was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A passenger in the vehicle was not hurt.
Police say charges are pending in the case.
