9th District Congresswoman Sue Myrick is expected to be among speakers Saturday at the Taxpayer Tea Party, a rally scheduled for Marshall Park in Charlotte's uptown.
The Tea Party is among nearly 1,600 similar events scheduled across the country. Most of the rallies are taking place April 15, the day that federal income taxes are due.
Charlotte's however, will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Organizers of the event say it will give the public a chance to protest the deficit spending that will result from the Obama administration's budget and the stimulus spending package. Opponents of the budget and the stimulus package say government spending will result in higher taxes in years to come, especially for younger Americans.
Marshall Park is at McDowell Street at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
