An Anson County high school student died Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash east of Wadesboro.
The N.C. Highway Patrol identified the victim as Mary Beth Lear, 18, of Wadesboro.
She was killed shortly after 7 a.m., when the 2000 Mercury Mountaineer she was driving went off Parsongrove Church Road north of Lilesville.
Troopers say Lear was driving northbound when she apparently went off the right side of the road, over-corrected, and went off the left side of the road and struck a tree. She was taken to Anson Community Hospital, where she died shortly afterward.
Lear was a student at Anson Senior High School in Wadesboro.
