Duke Energy named Michelle Pearson the company's social media director today, a new position to focus on connecting with customers online.
Pearson was formerly the manager of Duke's E-Channels team, which operated a Twitter feed providing updates on power outages during storms and emergencies.
“We think that there are opportunities to engage,” Pearson said. “More and more people are coming to those channels.”
She said she will first focus on developing the company's strategy to expand in social media.
