Someone fired shots from a pellet gun at a school bus coming from Crestdale Middle School on Tuesday afternoon. The shots shattered a back window but did not injure any of the 19 students on board or the bus driver.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. A helicopter image over the scene at Wallace Lane and Highland Drive in east Charlotte showed police collecting a gun from the scene as evidence.

Crestdale's principal sent an automated message to the 19 students' parents, telling them what happened. Charlotte-Mecklenburg and school district police are investigating.
