A robbery victim chased the suspects overnight, setting off a series of events that led to an overnight manhunt in a northwest Charlotte neighborhood and the arrest of at least one man.

Police are still looking for a second suspect in the case, which began about 9 p.m. Thursday at the Wild Wings Cafe on Mallard Creek Church Road in north Charlotte.

According to police reports, two men robbed the victim at gunpoint and fled. But in this case, the victim went after his attackers, following them south on Interstate 85. While in pursuit, the victim called 911 and gave police a description of the suspects and their vehicle, a green minivan.

The suspects fled down I-85, then got on the Brookshire Freeway, exited onto Beatties Ford Road, and finally turned onto Celia Avenue in the Washington Heights neighborhood. Police say the suspects wrecked their van on Celia Avenue near a community park and ran off.

A woman in the vehicle was taken into custody for questioning. Several hours later, a suspect was arrested.

During the night, police set up a perimeter in the community. They called in the K-9 dog search unit and checked any vehicles entering or leaving the neighborhood.
