Gaston County police said today they have arrested the boyfriend of a woman found dead in her home near Stanley.
Douglas Harold McMickle is charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Teresa Ann Dickerson, police said. McMickle, a resident of Dallas, NC, remained in jail today without bond.
McMickel, 40, and Dickerson, 35, were dating for several months, police said.
Authorities found Dickerson's body Saturday at her home in the 2200 block of N.C. 27. The road is also known as Charles Raper Jones Highway.
Police released few other details, but said evidence found at the scene "indicates the victim died as a result of foul play."
