Lincolnton police rounded up at least three dozen suspects Thursday as part of a nine-month-long investigation aimed at the drug trade in Lincoln County.
Lincolnton police Lt. Brian Greene said Operation Summertime Blues was a joint effort by the department's Special Enforcement Team and its Criminal Investigation/Narcotivs division. He said those arrested Thursday face more than 210 felony changes, ranging from trafficking, to possession with intent to sell or deliver.
Some of those arrested face additional charges, such as breaking and entering and obtaining property by false pretenses.
Greene said the crackdown came after a request from Chief H.D. Abernathy, who told his top aides that he would like to see one more drug roundup before he retires in October.
Police began making arrests about 6 a.m. Thursday and continued into the afternoon hours.

Cynthia Kay Allen, 55, Lincolnton; 1 count of possession with intent to sell or deliver Methadone.
Misty Gauge Bass, 29, Lincolnton; 1 count of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by forgery.
Larry Wayne Bollinger, 49, Lincolnton; 2 counts of felony conspiracy; 1 count each of possession with intent to sell or deliver crack cocaine, and selling or delivering crack cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver Oxycontin, selling or delivering Oxycontin.
Melissa Jane Cherry, 23, Lincolnton; 1 count of maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance.
