Libertarian Thomas Hill, an electrician from Cabarrus County, has become the first candidate to formally announce for the 8th Congressional District seat,
Hill, 43, said he'll seek the seat now held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell.
“Our country needs a change,” he said today, adding that the problem is government over-spending.
“This money will never be paid back,” he said, “and when countries like China and Japan stop buying our debt, we're sunk.”
Hill has run unsuccessfully for local office six times.
