If you need to reach Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools before the holiday weekend, act fast. Superintendent Peter Gorman announced mid-morning that he's sending all summer staff home at 2 p.m.
The exception: Folks who are providing summer care for kids through the after-school program will follow their normal schedule.
Today had originally been scheduled as a full work day, with Friday as the paid holiday. Gorman said in an e-mail that no one will receive a pay cut because of the shortened day.
