Myrtle Beach, S.C. -- Fire officials near the S.C. coast say a wildfire has been contained after it burned several acres not far from the area where a fire burned 30 square miles earlier this year.
The fire was contained Wednesday evening after about three hours. No injuries were been reported.
Horry County Fire Rescue spokesman Todd Cartner says no homes were threatened by the blaze near U.S. 501 and S.C. 31. Cartner says the fire started when a truck on S.C. 31 lost a tire.
The National Weather Service early Thursday canceled a smoke advisory for the area. The weather service says smoke was not affecting travel.
The fire Wednesday was about six miles from the April fire that destroyed about 75 homes and caused about $25 million in damages.
