Police officials in North Carolina say an officer is in stable condition after being shot during a call to a burglary in progress in Durham.
The Durham Police Department said Officer D.J. Youmans was being treated at Duke University Hospital. The shooting occurred about 4 a.m. Thursday at an apartment complex.
Police say the bullet that hit Youmans in the abdomen was fired from inside an apartment and officers were questioning four people who were in the unit.
Youmans has been on the Durham force since May 26 and formerly worked for the New York City Police Department.
