Elizabeth City -- Two men aboard a commercial fishing boat that capsized in N.C. coastal waters have been rescued.
The Coast Guard said Monday that the 34-foot boat Claudia Jean was shrimp trawling in Pamlico Sound near Great Island when it capsized Sunday evening and activated an emergency beacon.
A helicopter from the Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City found the men clinging to the boat's hull on Monday.
The crew members were hoisted aboard the chopper and taken to the air station, where officials said they were in good condition.
Boats from Coast Guard stations at Hobucken and Ocracoke Island also were dispatched to search for the boat. The helicopter crew spotted coolers from the fishing boat before seeing the vessel.
