The FBI released this photo, taken by bank surveillance cameras, of a man who robbed a BB&T branch Tuesday in the University City area.

A lone bandit robbed the BB&T branch in the University City area Tuesday morning, police say.

According to police, the robber entered the bank, in the 8500 block of University City Boulevard, about 10 a.m. and gave the teller a black bag with a note, demanding money. No customers were inside the bank at the time, and police say the bandit did not show a weapon.

The robber is described as a white male, in his mid 40s, about 6 feet tall and weighing 200 to 220 pounds. He was wearing a yellow straw hat and had beard stubble on his face, police say.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Charlotte office of the FBI, at 704-377-9200, or CrimeStoppers, 704-334-1600.
