Law firm awards 10 scholarships of $2,500

The Law Offices of Michael A. DeMayo awarded $2,500 scholarships to 10 students from the Charlotte region.

The firm chose the winners based on academic achievement, community service and their response to an essay question seeking solutions and ideas to prevent teenage drinking and driving.

The winners:

Michelle Austin, Hopewell High, attending UNC Chapel Hill.

Annalise Farris, North Lincoln, attending UNC Chapel Hill.

Elizabeth Henry, Providence Day, attending Cornell University.

Lauren Houston, South Caldwell High, attending UNC Chapel Hill.

India Prather, Monroe High, attending Wake Forest.

Kaitlin Price, Gray Stone Day School, Stanly County, attending Wake Forest.

Kaley Rivera, South Point High, Gaston County, attending Appalachian State University.

Erin Sturgess, Hickory Christian Academy, attending UNC Chapel Hill.

Jennifer Telschow, Waddell High School, attending Stanford.
