Man accused of beating woman, 78

A Rock Hill man was in custody Thursday after police said he battered the 78-year-old woman who raised him as her grandson.
Authorities charged Timothy Allen Rockholt Jr., 20, with possession of marijuana, second offense, and elder abuse, said Lt. Jerry Waldrop of the Rock Hill Police. Mildred Ledbetter, 78, of the same address did not require medical attention, Waldrop said.Rockholt had been living in a house with Ledbetter on Pendleton Street, Waldrop said. On Wednesday, visiting family members discovered the abuse had been occurring for a year, he said.
"He was forcing her to write checks, pay out money to him," said Waldrop. "She had a black eye. The injuries were severe on her arms, legs and face." -- (Rock Hill) Herald
