Brandon Mitchell knows he will have to fight for the starting role behind center on the N.C. State football team.

North Carolina quarterback Marquise Williams, a Mallard Creek graduate, is back in school after not being enrolled during the spring semester, team spokesman Kevin Best said on Friday.

The second class of the N.C. State Athletic Hall of Fame features one of the best individual stars the school has ever produced and the coach and one of the best players from perhaps the school’s greatest team ever, the 1974 national championship basketball team.

North Carolina football coach Larry Fedora told the Tar Heel Tour stop at North Ridge Country Club on Thursday that he’s more concerned about the Tar Heels’ home games than any they will play on the road. He’s expecting the same atmosphere at Kenan Stadium that he saw the one game they played “those guys in red.”

The Charlotte Sports Foundation is trying to make marquee college football games on Labor Day weekend an annual event at Bank of America Stadium.
