Jacksonville (1-0) at Appalachian State (0-1) 3:30 p.m., Kidd Brewer Stadium |
The Mountaineers try to rebound from last week's 41-13 loss at LSU in their home opener with less-imposing Jacksonville.
The Dolphins are members of the Pioneer League. The league, like Appalachian, is an FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) member, but its schools do not give scholarships.
It's Lettermen's Day, and more than 200 former ASU players are expected to attend. In addition, it will be National Champions' Day, with the 2007 national title flag raised in the stadium. The Mountaineers will also wear throwback uniforms from 1989, in honor of coach Jerry Moore's first year on the job.
Keep an eye on Mountaineers quarterback Armanti Edwards. Held in check by the Tigers, he could put up huge numbers against Jacksonville.

The Citadel (1-0) at Clemson (0-1) 3:30 p.m., Memorial Stadium |
The Tigers will try to shake off the disappointment from a dismal performance against Alabama that raised serious questions about their preparation. Clemson should be able to get its running game (0 yards in the opener) on track against the Bulldogs, but one week won't wipe out what happened.

Davidson (0-0) at UNC Pembroke (1-0) 6 p.m., Grace P. Johnson Stadium |
The Wildcats open the season on the road with the goal of improving on consecutive 6-4 seasons. Quarterback Ryan Alexander is the leader of a Davidson team aiming for its first Pioneer League title.
