Last season's record:22-12; 9-7 in the ACC; sixth in the league, lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Key returning players: Rakim Sanders, G-F, 12.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg; Joe Trapani, F, 13.4 ppg, 6.6 rp
Best-case scenario: The four returning starters fill the scoring and leadership vacuum left by former point guard Tyrese Rice. The Eagles use their experience to outwit the other teams at the top of the conference reloading talent and win the ACC.
Worst-case scenario: Rice proves to be irreplaceable, and the offense stalls without improved interior play to send the program tumbling back to the NIT.
Player to watch: Biko Paris, G. The Eagles didn't add any freshmen, but Paris, a junior and the only new starter, has the task of replacing Rice, albeit as a pass-first point guard. j.p. giglio
