A licensed social worker from Charlotte pleaded guilty on Wednesday to conspiring to defraud Medicaid of at least $4.3 million – one of three unrelated similar schemes, prosecutors said.

Investigators said suspect Henry Blankenship has a lengthy criminal history and recently had been released in 2012 after serving 23 years in prison for a second-degree murder conviction.

A woman came into police headquarters about 2 p.m., asking for help for a man who was in her car.
