  • The Charlotte Area Transit System will host a public meeting Thursday at the Davidson Town Hall to update Lake Norman residents on the proposed Lynx Purple line, also known as the north corridor commuter train.

That train is proposed to between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville, with stops. For more information, visit www.ridetransit.org or call 704-336-RIDE.

Huntersville public works director Max Buchanan said crews will be working at the intersection of N.C. 73 and Northcross Drive on Monday night to install a turn barrier. Resurfacing at Stratton Farm Road is expected to continue this week.

Last week's rains postponed work on the N.C. 115-McCoy Road intersection, but that work is still expected to be completed by Oct. 3.

Pine Lake Preparatory opened with more than 1,000 students last week, but it also opened up a problem.

N.C. 115 is only two lanes in front of the school, and that has created massive traffic jams as students enter in the mornings and head out in the afternoons.

The school is trying to fix the problem. It has implemented a policy with staggered drop-off and pickup times, where middle school and elementary students are picked up and dropped off at different times and different locations. It has also banned parking along Yellow Wood Circle (the school's entrance road) until 15 minutes before school or after school. No parallel parking is permitted on that street.

But since the school is in its first year on its new campus, it might take some time to get a smooth traffic plan. So commuters in the area will have to stay alert (and patient) between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and again from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
