It’s been almost exactly three years since Amy Schumer came to Charlotte to do five shows over three nights at the 400-seat Comedy Zone inside the NC Music Factory.
Since then, the 34-year-old comedian has been involved with hit after hit after hit, and when she returns to town on Dec. 19, she’ll be cracking her (very) raunchy jokes at Time Warner Cable Arena for a crowd many dozen times as large.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday at www.livenation.com, through Ticketmaster outlets, or by calling 800-745-3000. They’ll run from $31.50 to $127.
Her Comedy Zone tickets sold for $12-$17.
Six months after performing here in 2012, “Inside Amy Schumer” premiered on Comedy Central. Now three seasons old, the sketch-comedy series has won two Primetime Emmy Awards and been nominated for six others.
This past summer, she wrote and starred in the comedy “Trainwreck,” which grossed $110 million. She made her debut as a “Saturday Night Live” host for NBC on Oct. 10; a week later, her comedy special “Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo” (directed by Chris Rock) premiered on HBO.
Anyway, if you want to see this show, set a reminder on your phone for 10 a.m. Wednesday and be ready to point and click quickly. This is officially the hottest big ticket of December. (Sorry, Billy Joel.)
