Nolen Kitchen (2839 Selwyn Ave.) hosts “From Farm to Table” on June 29 for Carolina Breast Friends, a nonprofit aimed at helping cancer survivors. Dishes will focus on organic ingredients and local meats, and will be served at stations, with wine pairings from Coturri Winery. Harpers, M5 have picnic packs
SouthPark's Harper's and sibling M5 are offering picnics for the Symphony in the Park events this summer. Harper's has a choice of two deli sandwiches or wraps, with chips, bottled water, crackers, brie, grapes and cookies for $30; 704-366-6612. Mezzanotte Brick Oven Pizzeria (2907 Providence Road) now offers regular and family portions on all pastas, and has added some dinner entrées and pizzas.
Tree fruit and truffles at Zebra
New at Zebra (4521 Sharon Road): tree fruits (starting with sweet red and gold cherries) from Fruit Bat Produce in Virginia; and the season's first black truffles (served with torchon of foie gras and risotto dishes, and their skins, ground and dried, are seasoning some fleur de sel – salt, y'all). Not new but notable: Friday night wine tastings from 5:30 to 7:30, including light hors d'oeuvres, for $10. In Asheville, chef-owner Jim Alexander's sons are working on a large wine retail place in Biltmore Village.
