A recap of the last several places I've reviewed or mentioned in other stories enthusiastically:
With the separate Chinese menu at 88 China Bistro (1620 E. 4th St.), you can get goodies you might not stumble across otherwise.
Visitors to the Hilton Head Island, S.C., area should definitely check out the terrific occhi de lupo at Michael Anthony's (37 New Orleans Road), off-the-beaten-path Mexican fare at off-the-beaten-path Mi Tierra (160 Fairfield Square), and buckwheat pancakes at Stacks (by Palmetto Dunes entrance, on S.C. 278).
Cafe Monte (6700 Fairview Road) brings French finesse – but not formality – to the Phillips Place area, with everything from Nutella crepes to steak frites.
Never miss a local story.
Those looking for a little down-home comfort (and these days, who isn't?) should make a stop at Sadie's Soulful Southern Experience (5708 N. Sharon Amity Road), if only for the chicken and sweet potato waffles – but also because it won (just last weekend) the 2008 Hoodie award for best soul food.
