It's fast becoming a New Year's Eve tradition: Pack into uptown's Belk Theater, toss back a few cold ones, and sing along at high volume as Concord's Avett Brothers romp and stomp through rock and bluegrass tunes.
Last year's Dec. 31 show at Belk sold out. This year's is expected to be no less popular – which is why the Avetts added a Dec. 30 concert.
Now, planning this far ahead can be dicey, but if you're even half-interested, log onto www.blumenthalcenter.org or call 704-372-1000 at 10 this morning and buy tickets. Waiting is too risky; if it turns out you can't go, they'll be ridiculously easy to resell on Craigslist.
If you're definitely in, a couple things to keep in mind:
Never miss a local story.
1. The fan club pre-sale started Monday, so don't be too surprised if “best available” yields unspectacular seats.
2. New Year's and drinking go together like chili and cheese fries … so opting for the Dec. 30 performance reduces the chances that you'll get beer spilled on your arm.
