They say you don't know what you've got till it's gone … which is why I'm strongly urging you to check out two great shows that are packing up this weekend after six-week runs.
Carolina Renaissance Festival: In addition to offering unreal people-watching (women in revealing bodices and guys with hilariously awful fake Cockney accents), the annual 20-acre theme park has some truly wacky live entertainment and the best cinnamon-roasted almonds I've ever eaten.
10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 16445 Poplar Tent Road, Huntersville. $18; discounts for kids. 704-896-5544.
“Traces”: This four-man, one-woman Cirque du Soleil-like troupe is superhuman in one respect (the stunts involving two 20-foot climbing poles must be seen to be believed) yet unsettlingly human in another (not every flip always goes off as planned, which – as you'll see – can be breathtakingly nerve-racking).
8 tonight, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday. McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square, 345 N. College St. $29.50-$44.50. www.carolinatix .org.
