You have less than two weeks to prepare for the day that can change your life, if you're an actor or technician.
Metrolina Theatre Association will hold its Unified Auditions June 26 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at ImaginOn, 300 E. Seventh St. But you must register to take part by June 16. Go to www.metrolinatheatre.org to get access to registration forms and instruction on how to reserve your spot.
That's where actors 17 or older will do a general audition for dozens of local, regional, professional, semi-professional and community theaters for plays throughout the 2010-11 theater season. (Companies also audition individually during the year.)
Designers and theater technicians (including stage managers) can show portfolios and distribute résumés to companies and prospective collaborators after lunch.
Auditions run 90 seconds. They consist of a 60-second monologue with 16 bars of song, two contrasting monologues or one 90-second song. An accompanist will be provided, but you should bring sheet music. Auditions will be videotaped, and a copy will be provided to participating theatre companies.
The showcase will be open from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Setup and check-in begin at noon. Tables will be provided in the interviewing room at ImaginOn to display portfolios.
There's no charge to participate, although participants must register and e-mail the form plus a copy of resume and headshot to firstname.lastname@example.org. Get details at www.metrolinatheatre .org or ask a question by e-mailing email@example.com and putting "Registration" in the subject line.
