More than 600 alpacas – animals originating in South America that resemble small llamas – will be competing for ribbons in the show ring. There also will be kids’ activities, free educational seminars and yarn-spinning demonstrations. Vendors will showcase their wares, including clothes made of alpaca fleece and books about alpacas. Parking costs $5 per vehicle.

Junior League’s Go Kids Go!

The Junior League of Charlotte launches its series of fitness events for kids 4-14 (and their families). It will run for four Saturdays, and each event will include physical activity, interactive learning sessions and giveaways for the kids. You’ll need to register in person each week, between 9 and 9:30 a.m.
Charlotte Symphony Guild’s Musical Petting Zoo

Showcase of Woodcarvings

The largest show of its kind in the Southeast features a carving competition, carvings and carving supplies for sale, raffle items, silent auction and mini-seminars. This year’s theme: cartoon caricatures.

Introduce your preschool-age child to Purim, which celebrates the deliverance of the Jewish people from the wicked Haman in the days of Queen Esther of Persia. Watch the animated film “Esther, the Girl Who Became Queen.” There also will be a scavenger hunt, crafts, a photo op with Queen Esther and snacks.
