‘May the Fourth Be With You’ Star Wars Day

Noon-5 p.m. Discovery Place, 301 N. Tryon St. $15, $12 for ages 2-13 and seniors, free under 2.

The science museum celebrates May the Fourth with Star Wars characters, an “In a Galaxy Far, Far Away” Star Show in the planetarium, a Young Padawan costume parade (for kids 7 and younger), a make-your-own-lightsaber workshop and more.


‘Singin’ Black and White’

3 p.m. St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 301 Caldwell Lane, Davidson. $15, $10 for seniors and students, free under 12. 704-941-0650.

Choral concert features VOX and Charlotte Contemporary Ensemble in hymns, folk songs, 20th-century American masterworks and spirituals. Repeated Monday at noon for free at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 115 W. Seventh St.
