The Jazz Arts Initiative series presents The Spartan Collective, which will play the music of drummer Max Roach.



After a bad blind date, a man (Adam Sandler) and woman (Drew Barrymore) find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attraction grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.

WIN TICKETS: “Blended” (rated PG-13) opens May 23, but an advance screening of the film is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, in south Charlotte. To enter to win a pair of passes via random drawing, email with “Blended” in the subject line and your name, age and city of residence in the body of the email. Deadline is 11:59 p.m. Sunday.


RJ Mitte Meet and Greet

The actor best known as Walt Jr. from the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning series “Breaking Bad” will appear at Alive After Five to help raise funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children. Tickets include an autograph and photo opportunity.


Eddie Izzard

The British comedian, often likened to Monty Python and improvisers such as Lenny Bruce and Robin Williams, brings his “Force Majeure” tour to town.

The funny star of films (“Blankman,” “Major Payne”) and TV series (“In Living Color,” “My Wife and Kids”) brings his stand-up comedy to Charlotte.
