‘Hair’ gets a celebrity visit at Theatre Charlotte

Ron Law, who directed the current production of “Hair” at Theatre Charlotte, says it’s on track to become the second highest-grossing show in the company’s eight-decade history. (It runs through Sunday at 501 Queens Road; to get tickets, call 704-372-1000 or visit theatrecharlotte.org.)
The coffers swelled by two people – a famous twosome – last Friday, when Kristen Anderson-Lopez and husband Robert Lopez dropped by to see the show.
Law thinks the composers of the score for “Frozen” must be the first Oscar winners to pass through Theatre Charlotte’s doors, and they’re definitely the first to have a sibling in a show: Anderson’s sister Lindsay became a member of the “Hair” tribe after appearing in TC’s “In the Heat of the Night” in 2012.
By the way, the only show likely to top “Hair” in the company’s box-office ledgers is the 2013 production of the equally irreverent “Avenue Q.” And the Tony-winning composer of “Avenue Q” is ... Robert Lopez.
