Plaza Midwood’s neighborhood fall festival features a costume parade for kids, live music, trunk-or-treat, pumpkin painting and other family activities. If you’re wondering why it’s called a Cankerworm Festival, it’s not because Plaza Midwood is celebrating the cankerworm. It’s because Plaza Midwood is fighting the destructive cankerworm by selling tree-banding supplies at the festival.

Salvaged Beauty NoDa, a vintage/antique store, hosts a monthly swap meet the last Saturday of every month. This month’s event includes Halloween activities: free pumpkin spice coffee during the day, live music, pumpkin decorating (buy a pumpkin there or bring your own; paint will be supplied) and more. Also, Junk Rescue, right next door, opens to the public the last Saturday of every month. They clean out homes and businesses and recycle the contents, but on this day you can shop for great deals on furniture and architectural salvage items. Most items are under $20.
