"American Idol" alumna Fantasia Barrino was scheduled to host a dinner at her home on Thursday as part of the "Come Together" campaign.
Macy's and Feeding America launched "Come Together," a campaign aimed at feeding 10 million people, in September. The campaign encourages people to host dinners, and asks guests to donate to Feeding America and local food banks. Macy's will match donations until they reach the goal of 10 million meals.
In Charlotte, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina will be a beneficiary of the effort. One of the food bank's board members will attend Thursday's dinner.
Local media outlets weren't the only ones expected to attend the event. VH1 was scheduled to be there as well. The cable network is reportedly taping for a new reality show about Barrino based on her life as a singer and single mother. "Good Morning America" is expected to be there, too. The news show will feature the dinner during Monday's show, said Barrino's spokesperson Felisha Fletcher.
