10 p.m. Wednesday, NBC
As more and more new broadcast shows get canceled, you may have thought the networks had pretty much scraped the bottom of the barrel trying to come up with anything that might stick with viewers.
You would be wrong. Given the evidence of a drama premiering Wednesday called “Taxi Brooklyn,” apparently the NBC barrel is bottomless.
Never miss a local story.
“Taxi Brooklyn” is the ridiculous story of tough Detective Caitlyn “Cat” Sullivan (Chyler Leigh, “Grey’s Anatomy”) who is a good cop but breaks rules (of course), especially when she’s behind the wheel of a car. After wrecking too many cop cars and terrifying five partners assigned to ride shotgun with her, she has her driving privileges revoked.
What to do? You don’t think there might be a clue to the answer in the show’s title, do you?
Yes, she gets around that problem by persuading a French-born cabbie named Leo Romba (Jacky Ido, “Inglourious Basterds”) to be her on-call chauffeur.
Well, of course. That would happen, right?
That’s about it. She solves crimes and tries to find out who killed her dad, a well-respected cop, and Romba turns out to be a calming influence, using his knowledge of people, gained by looking into the eyes of his fares, to help Cat.
