What to Watch on Friday: ‘The Knick’ may be Cinemax’s first prestige drama

The Knick (Cinemax) - The premiere episode of a critically acclaimed new medical drama set in a 1900s New York City hospital. In tonight’s opener, the accomplished Dr. John W. Thackery ( Clive Owen) is named chief surgeon and is pressured by a major benefactor to hire a black doctor as his top assistant. If you have Cinemax, check this out. Cold Justice (9pm, TNT) - The bludgeoning death of a single mother in Paulding, Ohio, is investigated.

Treehouse Masters (10pm, Animal Planet) - A 30-sided geometric orb, connected to trees by wires and accessible by a vertical ladder, is built for a family near Seattle. The family has the reputation of rescuing lost and stranded hikers in the woods.
