What to Watch on Sunday: ‘Outlander’ a hit for Starz even before debut

The new Starz series “Outlander” was viewed nearly a million times online and On Demand before its official TV debut this weekend.

Outlander (8pm, Starz) - I messed up on the premiere date of this one – it actually debuted Saturday night. But it repeats tonight at 8 and again at 9, so it’s not too late to catch up if you missed it (or just watch again!). Plus, Starz, a premium/pay channel, put the pilot online and on demand earlier in the week, and it was viewed nearly a million times before Saturday. In the first episode, a married British combat nurse ( Caitriona Balfe) time-travels from World War II to 1743 Scotland, where she is kidnapped by Highlanders and tends to an injured young warrior.

Teen Choice 2014 (8pm, Fox) - The 16th annual gala honoring achievement in entertainment, sports, fashion and the internet fathers a performance by Jason Derulo. Tyler Posey (“Teen Wolf”) hosts.

The Last Ship (9pm, TNT) - Slattery assumes the role of commanding officer when Chandler and Tex get ensnarled in a perilous situation. With the fate of the world at stake, Slattery must save the captain without losing the vaccine prototype.

Shark of Darkness: Wrath of Submarine (9pm, Discovery) - This Shark Week special tells of a fabled great white shark sought in South Africa.

Masters of Sex (10pm, Showtime) - Masters breaks new ground by continuing his study as the only white physician in a black hospital, but at the cost of his gynecology practice.

Manhattan (10pm, WGN) - The loss of one of their own leaves the community reeling. Also, new security measures interfere with the work being performed by the scientists.
