Doctor Who (8:15pm, BBC America) - The eighth series of “Doctor Who” begins with Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor. In the opener, the time-traveling Doctor and Clara are in Victorian London where a dinosaur is on the loose and a spate of deadly spontaneous combustions take place.
Gunslingers (8pm, Discovery) - A new documentary series profiling notable figures of the Old West – on both sides of the law – starts with Wyatt Earp and a look at the events that preceded the legendary gunfight in Tombstone, Arizona Territory, in 1881. A second episode at 9 profiles Billy the Kid, a New York City native who became an outlaw in the Old West in the 1870s.
#PopFan (8pm, Lifetime) - In this Lifetime movie, a pop star gets caught in a storm and crashes her car while on a quiet trip in Maine, and is rescued by a young man who takes her to his secluded lighthouse to recuperate. Unfortunately, the man is an obsessed, unstable fan who expects her to be the image created in her videos. (What’s that? Oh yes, Stephen King’s lawyers on the phone…)
The Color of Rain (9pm, Hallmark) - In this Hallmark movie, a widow who lost her husband to cancer meets a recently widowed father at her kids’ school, and they bond as they help each other deal with grief. But their loved ones make them doubt whether becoming a blended family is a good idea.
Hell on Wheels (9pm, AMC) - Cullen faces trouble at home as he takes railroad matters into his own hands. Meanwhile, Campbell makes a move against Durant and Mickey.
The Haunting of … (10pm, Lifetime Movie Network) - Valerie Harper returns to a New York City apartment where she came face-to-face with the spirit of a woman 50 years ago.
