Anna Kooiman, a Charlotte native who rose to co-host Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend” will leave the network next month because she is moving to Australia.
Kooiman’s husband, a native of Sydney, has accepted a job there and they will be moving from New York after her last show on Sept. 5.
In Australia, Kooiman continue with Fox News as a freelance correspondent, said Bill Shine, the network’s co-president.
“It’s been a dream working at Fox News,” Kooiman said in a statement released by Fox.
“I have learned so much in my five years here, and will be forever grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible people.”
Kooiman joined WCCB’s (Channel 18) “News Rising” in 2008 after a job in Toledo, Ohio, and stayed in Charlotte for three years until getting the network job in New York at the end of 2011.
Kooiman, 32, graduated from Myers Park High School and UNC Wilmington. She started her career at Wilmington’s ABC affiliate before she went to Toledo.
Her parents, Wally and Susan Kooiman, founded the Peppermint Forest Christmas Shop in Pineville, where Kooiman had her first job at 14, pricing ornaments in the warehouse.
