Next week Rosh Hashana marks the start of these 10 Days of Awe, a period of repentance and introspection that culminates on Oct. 4 with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

Steve Eason, the senior pastor of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, is taking a job with an Atlanta-based missionary organization, according to a letter shared with church members Monday. Eason will become the director of consulting services with Macedonian Ministries, “providing support services for pastors and church leadership of multiple denominations,” according to the letter. He plans to leave in April, when his family will move to Brevard. Eason oversaw the church’s $30million capital campaign in 2008, $11million of which went to help poor communities and schools in Charlotte, Africa and Latin America. Cleve R. Wootson Jr.

Pastor John Munro told congregants that his recent “painful ordeal has exposed my self reliance and pride in my achievements.”
