8/07/08 Police, fire and AFT agents investigate a fire at a government office building in Lancaster, S.C., authorities say it appears to be another case of arson. The fire heavily damaged the Solicitor's office, across the street from the 180-year-old county courthouse that was torched by an arsonist Monday.
The fire was reported about 4:30 a.m. at the office of Solicitor Doug Barfield. In South Carolina, the county solicitor serves as district attorney. The office is at the corner of West Dunlap and Catawba streets, a short distance from the courthouse. DAVIE HINSHAW dhinshaw@charlotteobserver.com
