Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker will have surgery in New York Wednesday to remove a cyst that has been causing inflammation in his left knee.

With Kemba Walker having knee surgery Wednesday, point guard Brian Roberts is about to jump into a major role with the Charlotte Hornets. Roberts knows the drill.

Hornets general manager Rich Cho said the team is evaluating Kemba Walker’s injury and working toward a decision later this week on how to proceed. Coach Steve Clifford said Saturday night the team has scheduled Walker for a magnetic resonance imaging.

The worst thing about the Charlotte Hornets-New York Knicks season series? It’s over.
