An Eastover landmark is back after about a six-month absence.

Goodwill Industries popular donation trailer has reopened at Randolph and Sam Drenan roads near the Mint Museum.

Griffith Real Estate Services had to move it in early February to make way for construction of an 82-space parking lot for neighboring Surgical Associates LLC. That prompted “calls, e-mails and conversations on the street” from concerned citizens, said Preston Griffith, director of marketing.

He said the company always intended to bring the trailer back, even designing the parking lot to accommodate it.

“Now that it is open again,” Griffith said, “people are excited. We didn't realize how endeared to everybody that site was.”

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont says the Eastover trailer is the nonprofit employment and training service's top producing attendant donation center.

It's open with an attendant on duty from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.
