After scoring two first-inning runs on base hits and an error, the Charlotte Knights (54-63) pounded out an 8-4 victory Monday night in Syracuse.
The Chiefs made it even at 2 in the third inning, but Charlotte pulled away again in the fourth when David Cook scored on a double by Cole Armstrong and Armstrong scored on a single from Javier Colina.
The Knights built on the lead in the sixth when Nicholas Blasi hit a home run, bringing in Javier Colina from first.
Charlotte moves to eight games behind Durham.

HAGERSTOWN 4, KANNAPOLIS 1: The Intimidators picked up ten hits but could only manage one run in a loss to Hagerstown in the third game of a four-game series. The Intimidators had won the first two games of the series.
Kannapolis out hit the Suns 10-8. The Intimidators managed base hits in each of the first six innings but left a total of nine runners on in the game.
HICKORY 8, ROME 7: The host Crawdads traded leads with the Braves but prevailed in the end.
