The Junior League of Charlotte and the Mecklenburg County Health Department's Big Shot Saturdays are under way.
The free immunization program, available to all school-aged children in Mecklenburg County, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following Saturdays:
Saturday, Mecklenburg County Health Department, Beatties Ford Road.
Sept. 20, Kids HealthLink, Merry Oaks Elementary School.
Parents need to bring a form of identification and their child's recent shot records. Immunizations will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Preference will be given to school-aged children.

Attention senior adults:
Shepherd's Center East's “Adventures in Learning” series for seniors will begin Thursday.
Classes will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays Sept. 11-Oct. 16 at Central United Methodist Church, 6030 Albemarle Road, Charlotte.
Activities range from tai chi, creative writing and watercolor painting to navigating senior resources, backyard wildlife and gift making. A flu shot clinic and a blood pressure check also will be available.
The cost is $22 in advance for all six sessions or $26 at the door. A catered lunch will be available at each session for $6.
