Doug Lansky, travel writer and humorist, will speak at 7 p.m. today at UNC Charlotte. His free presentation is open to the public and will be held at McKnight Hall, at the Bonnie Cone Center.
Lansky has written several books, including “First-Time Europe” and “First-Time Around the World," both published by Rough Guide, plus several ”Signspotting” books based on photos of humorous or strange signs around the world. Lansky's syndicated “Signspotting” column appears Sundays in the Observer's Travel section. His travel articles have appeared in National Geographic and Esquire magazines and newspapers around the world.
His fast-paced live show – “Get Lost” – is a funny and informative talk on how to make the most of your travel experience: How to meet locals (and not just take photos of them); how to save money on the road; how to travel more safely. Lansky says “it is not your grandfather's slide show – you see about 500 images in an hour.”
