What do your kids want to be when they grow up?
Maybe Elmo can inspire them to dream.
Everyone's favorite red Muppet is the star of the new Sesame Street Live production “When Elmo Grows Up,” which is in Charlotte this week.
The 90-minute show uses Broadway-style music and staging to teach children that if they believe in themselves and work hard, anything is possible. The 24 songs performed include classics like “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” as well as the “Sesame Street” TV show theme song, “Sunny Day.” The show also marks the touring debut of Sesame Street's newest female star, Abby Cadabby.
To get into the spirit of things, we recently spent some time uptown at ImaginOn (www.imaginon.org) asking children what they want to be when they grow up. (Many of them had just left the matinee show of Children's Theatre of Charlotte's production of “Peter Pan,” so there were several who declared they never want to grow up!) Olivia Fortson
