Iredell County authorities have arrested a man and charged him with sexually assaulting a girl over a period of several years.
Sheriff Phil Redmond said a four-month investigation concluded Wednesday with the arrest of Kenneth Glenn Scott, of Statesville. He has been charged with first-degree sex offense with a child, child abuse-sex act, sexual activity by a substitute parent, and indecent liberties with a child, police said.
Redmond said the sheriff's office was contacted in August and told an under-age girl had been sexually assaulted. Lt. Bill Hamby, an investigator with the sheriff's office, said that while interviewing the girl, he learned that other victims might have been assaulted.
Hamby then spoke with another girl who said she had been sexually assaulted numerous times over a period of several years, starting when she was 8 years old.
