Chef Paulette De La Rosa’s bake mixes are already sold in Bloomingdale’s stores across the country.
They’ll also soon be available at the specialty retail bakery that she and her mom, Lily, are opening in downtown Mooresville.
The Whirling Whisk Baking Company will serve coffees, breakfast pastries, cookies, cakes, tarts, muffins, brownies and cupcakes when it opens in a week or two.
Paulette De La Rosa’s creations will also be available on her and her mom’s Web site, www.TheWhirlingWhisk.com.
De La Rosa’s recipes use all-natural ingredients and preservatives. No peanuts or tree nuts are used in her products.
After working in the restaurant industry for nine years, Paulette De La Rosa, 30, decided to pursue a degree in baking and pastry at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vt. She graduated in 2008.
De La Rosa landed her creations in Bloomingdale’s after showing her products at the Fancy Food Show in New York City last June. She is also working with the food development team at Williams-Sonoma to have her products sold in those stores as well.
De La Rosa is a Michigan native who intends to create a Northern-style bakery with the opening of The Whirling Whisk, the kind where you can stop in on your way to work for a fresh coffee and breakfast pastry or other items. Seating will also be available.
