Rowan County authorities are looking for the two men who they say broke into a county park Sunday and burglarized the Gem Mine area.
The break-in took place at Dan Nicholas Park, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies say the thieves tried but failed to enter other park exhibits.
Park security cameras captured footage of the break-in, showing two men responsible for the crime. Deputies say the suspects were using head gear-type lights, similar to those worn by miners, to see inside the dark building.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Lt. Chad Moose, 704-216-8687; Detective Teresa Haupt,. 704-216-8702; or Rowan County Crime Stoppers, 1-866-639-5245.
