Never miss a local story.
Cleveland County authorities have arrested four people in connection with an armed robbery earlier this week, including an employee of the store that was robbed.
The sheriff’s office says the arrests stem from the robbery about 9:05 p.m. Monday at the Dollar General store, in the 1500 block of South Post Road, near Shelby.
Deputies say two masked men entered the store through the front door and took a small amount of cash from the store after holding employees and a customer at gunpoint.
During the investigation, deputies say, they came to believe that Chris Little Jr., a Dollar General employee who was working at the time of the robbery, was involved in the planning and commission of the crime. Detectives say they believe Little knew the robbery would occur and had given his accomplices information about store operations.
Vashon Maurice Miller and Justin Matthew Scruggs were arrested for the robbery. Little, 20, of Shelby, and his sister, Anika Vernae Little, 24, of Boiling Springs, also were arrested and charged with robbery and conspiracy. Detectives say Anike Little drove the getaway car.
Miller, 23, is from Gastonia. Scruggs, 19, is from Lowell.
